Uncle John Heads to SXSW

Many of you may remember that back in August/September I worked on an independent feature film, shot in Wisconsin and Chicago, called Uncle John (you can read about the production process here and here). Well, last week I heard from the producer, Erik Crary, that the film was accepted into the South by Southwest Film Festival.

SXSW has become a major festival for music, technology, and film; and every year they only accept 10 features into the festival. So Uncle John being accepted is a huge accomplishment. The festival will serve as Uncle John‘s world premiere.

I asked Erik for some words about the festival and he had this to say:

We all banded together and made a film that we could be proud of, but getting the opportunity to show it to the world is a whole other ball game entirely. SXSW has become “the” festival to highlight truly independently made films and we couldn’t be more honored to be a part of it.

Erik certainly has it right, this puts Uncle John in a whole new ball game. I’m extremely excited that I had an opportunity to work with this cast and crew, and I look forward to seeing what comes of the project after SXSW.

You can learn more about the film on their site, and you can see the full festival lineup here.
