Post NAB 2014 Spotlight: Edelkrone Craft Module

Now that the 2014 NAB show in Las Vegas is over it’s time to do some coverage! Starting on April 11th and going until the end of the month I will be doing a spotlight on what was good at the show. Each day I’ll focus on something new that I saw. *note* These are being released in no particular order*

**note** I apologize for the delay in these posts, I’ve been battling WordPress back-end bugs.**

Edelkrone Craft Module

There are a lot of timelapse and stop motion control systems out there, so it makes finding the right one for your shoot a difficult choice. A good way to start is with a solid slider; and that’s where Edelkrone ( has thrown it’s hat in. They’ve taken their Slider Plus and attached a motion control unit to it, the Craft Module.

Creating timelapse videos can be a complex operation, and adding sliding movements to them just adds to the complexity. But the Edelkrone Craft Module makes smooth sailing of the process. Instead of having to calculate your frames, slide movements, and camera controls, the Craft Module does the math for you. It asks you a series of questions to determine the exact kind of movement you want.

Along with the Craft Module, Edelkrone has developed the Target Module. The TM is another device that allows you to keep your camera focused on a target while the whole rig slides. And just like the Craft Module it uses a really simple Q&A system to make targeting simple.

Both the Craft and Target Modules are used in conjunction with Edelkrone’s Slider Plus and the newer Slider Plus Pro. If you don’t already know, the Slider Plus is a slider system where the rails slide with the rig, giving you some extra play. The new modules don’t interfere with the smooth movement from the sliders at all; and attach to the ends of the slider, so the balance isn’t thrown off too much.

One of the nicest things about the Slider Plus is it’s portability, the new don’t detract from that at all. They’re light weight, and since they aren’t permanently attached to the rig, they can pack down small. This makes the Craft Module a great solution for low key shooting.

Edelkrone is known for their lightweight and solid camera support rigs, and last year they rocked out the Slider Plus, so the addition of the Craft Module is right in line with what their doing. Find out more information at, and make sure to follow them on twitter (@edelkrone).
