Meet the Crew of The Jog, Part II

A film is only a good as the people who make it. And the crew behind The Jog (facebook.com/thejogfilm)are some very talented filmmakers. As a way to get to know the people helping make my thesis film, I’ve asked them a series of questions. Their answers are enlightening and entertaining. In this post we learn about our Line Producer and Editor/Colorist/ Behind-the-Scenes Videographer.

Leonard House:
Line Producer

Bio: I have been working in Chicago’s vibrant theatre community for the past twelve years primarily as an Actor. During the last few years I have transitioned to more of a behind the scenes person becoming the Literary Manager and an Associate Producer for MPAACT theatre company, which led me to further expand into film.

What do you hope to bring, creatively, to The Jog?
Being the Line Producer most of my job on set will entail keeping the paperwork and receipts straight on set and making sure any potential problems get taken care of.

How do you see the film coming out?
I see the film being a touching story of self discovery and personal triumph. There is a video on Youtube where one of my heroes, Will Smith, tells a group of young people that one of the keys to success in life is “running,” because if you can learn the discipline to tune out the voice in your head telling you to quit, then you can do anything in your life. This film is a perfect example of that principle.

What drew you to the project? Favorite part of the project?
Being a classmate of the Producer, I was fortunate enough to see the project come from just a short pitch to a full script. I always thought the idea was great and I look forward to seeing it become a great short film.

What experience do you have?
I have been the Lead Producer on 2 short films since coming to Columbia College and I have Line Produced 3 short films. I have also been a Production Assistant on several films.

What excites you about the film?
What excites me most is to see the final project fully realized, to see everyone’s hard work and creativity brought to life on the screen.

My ultimate career goal would be to start an Independent Production company and develop Feature length movies and shows for television and the web.

Favorite movie(s)?
Shawshank Redemption and the Brazilian film City of God are two of my all time favorites.

Favorite non-film activity?
My favorite non-film activity would have to be enjoying any outdoor activity with good friends.

Favorite beverage?
Coffee. I’m a coffeeholic! However, after a long day a relaxing glass of scotch definitely hits the spot.

Bio: Filmmaker Kevin Otterness owns and operates POSTHOUSE PICTURES, an independent production company. He produces and directs independent films, music video’s and behind-the-scenes documentaries, and his clients have benefited from his artistic camera work and editing talents since 2000.

What do you hope to bring, creatively, to The Jog?
As the editor of The Jog. I hope to bring to life the director and producers true vision of film. A director will always have an idea how they see the final cut. It’s my job to bring their vision to life with a touch of my creative skills in the edit suite. I have also been given the opportunity to shoot and direct the behind-the-scenes documentary of the film. As most filmmakers, I love a good BTS video.

How do you see the film coming out?
I see the film turning out very well! Jeremy has assembled a talented cast along with a professional crew.
